Translated from Richard Wilhelm's German (1924)
The Judgment
Influence. Success.
Persistence is favorable.
To take a girl in marriage brings good fortune.
The Image
A lake lies on the mountain: the image of influence.
So the noble one, by being receptive,
lets people come close to them.
First line, six
The influence makes itself felt in the big toe.
Second line, six
The influence makes itself felt in the calves.
Misfortune.
Staying put brings good fortune.
Third line, nine
The influence makes itself felt in the thighs.
One holds on to what follows behind.
Going on is shameful.
Fourth line, nine
Persistence brings good fortune. Regret vanishes.
If one's thoughts run back and forth in agitation,
only those friends will follow
on whom one fixes one's conscious thoughts.
Fifth line, nine
The influence makes itself felt in the nape of the neck.
No regret.
Top line, six
The influence makes itself felt in the jaws, the cheeks and the tongue.
